I recently attending Girls' World Forum which brought together Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from all over the world, more the 80 countries, to Chicago for a week to discuss the Millennium Development Goals established by the United Nations. More information can be found about the Forum at http://www.wagggsworld.org/en/gwf2012 or by visiting the My GS History page. During the Forum we watched videos created by The Girl Effect which focuses on informing the world about the potential of girls. I really enjoyed their videos and wanted to share one! If you also liked their video more can be found at www.girleffect.org. You can also find more information about their mission and ways to get involved.
I recently applied for a grant from DoSomething.org for $500. DoSomething offers grants for young people under 25 completing community service projects! I won't hear back from them for another 2-3 months and hope to use the money, if it is awarded, to supply the library with books for the future! As always I am in need of books and if you would like to donate any please contact me, you can find my information on the contact me page! I am in the process of applying for a $500 grant from DoSomething.org to jump start the project.
