Wow! A lot is happening and everything seems to be coming together at once!
I was a Page for Representative Brown at the Roundhouse yesterday and I spoke to both Rep. Brown and Rep. Pacheco about my project! I also spoke to the Rio Rancho City Council about my project and from that I am now working on interviews with both the Albuquerque Journal and Rio Rancho Observer! Stay tuned to channel 4 and watch for their Hometown Heroes segment! I am being interviewed by them on Monday at the hospital. I currently don't know when it will air but I'll keep you posted! A huge thank you to all of the recent sponsors! Check the Sponsors page for the new members! Also, I picked up books from the donation box at Council and I couldn't believe the amount of books! Thank you to all who left books there. Finally, the BOOK BALL!! Calling all Girl Scouts! I will be putting on a kick off dance that will include a reading corner, bookmark making, hair braiding, waltz lessons, and information about the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards. The Ball will be April 13th, 2013 at Paradise Hills United Methodist Church from 2pm-4pm. Troops are challenged to a book drive, the troop to bring in the most books to be donated to the library will win a Dairy Queen gift card for their troop!! I am asking that each Girl, Adult, Non-Girl Scout tag-a-long, and other attendees pay $2 admission. All Girl Scouts will receive a patch! Please RSVP to [email protected], please include the number of Girls and Adults and a contact name and phone #. I hope to see you all there!! I believe that's all for now, but I'm sure I'm forgetting something! Thank you for all of your support, I couldn't have gotten this far without you. This journey has had some ups and some downs but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Start My Library will be launching in just a few weeks and I am soo very happy to have made it to this point. Thank you. Annika That's right! Start My Library is now on Facebook! Search for, Start My Library Gold Award, and you'll find my Facebook page! Share it, like it, and get your family and friends to share it too!
You may have noticed there is a new page on the site, Sponsors. This page lists who has sponsored the library.
What is a sponsor and how do you become one? A sponsor is an individual, family, or business that has made a donation to the library. Sponsors may have also agreed to support the library continually over time.To become a sponsor please email me at [email protected] Sponsors are the most important part of this library, their contribution will provide books for the library over the coming months and years allowing more children and families to be reached! I ask you to support the library in the way that is best for you and your family, be it a few books you found in the closet or a few boxes full, it can make a difference. Thank you so much for your support! As we near the planned opening date (March!) the drive for books is getting into full gear! Right now what is needed the most are sponsors. Sponsors are organizations, businesses, or personal families who donate a large amount of books or pledge to continue giving to the library over time! If you or anyone you know is interesting in become a sponsor of this wonderful library please email me at [email protected] so we can work out the details!
Thank you for your support, Annika The Library will be located in the Family Practice area of the Hospital! Be looking for it there come March!
As a friendly reminder Books are always needed! Also I am still in need of a bookshelf!! Please email me if you are interested in donating one, Thank you! This site has just been updated with loads of new information! The Gold Award page now has more information concerning all of Girl Scout's Highest Awards and there is a brand new page, My GS History, which gives some background information on what I have done in Girl Scouts. The Illiteracy page is next on the list for updates. Thanks for visiting the site!
And now a quote that I love, "All men who have achieved great things have been great dreamers." ~Orison Swett Marden So, keep dreaming. |
