I have been doing a lot of speaking lately and would like to update you about whats been going on.
I presented to the Rio Rancho Civitan group about my project.
I presented to the Rio Rancho Civitan group about my project.
I also had the opportunity to speak with a Girl Scout troop about my project and why they should pursue the gold award as well.
I also recently spoke with a group of international visitors from Tajikistan and they made quite an impact on me. I was able to speak with these visitors about my project and also show them the storage room where the books are held. I came to learn that books are rare in Tajikistan and that even the library requires a deposit before a book can be checked out. When the visitors saw the amount of books I had and that I was giving them away for free they were at a loss for words. I invited them to take a few books home with them and they almost couldn't believe my offer. This visit showed me how big of an impact such a small gift as a book can make on one person. They also graciously helped me to put stickers in a few new books to put out on the shelf. I have to say this experience was one of the greatest experiences I have had through my project.
